Blaine McLeod MLA Lumsden-Morse

Legislative Report
March 4, 2026

The start of the spring legislative session brings your Saskatchewan Party government back to the Legislature, but the work has been ongoing. We have continued to stay focused on delivering for Saskatchewan people, and this session is another opportunity for us to build on that momentum.

Here at home, our government continues to protect our strong economy and jobs. Statistics Canada’s recently released data show Saskatchewan ranks first among the provinces with 12 per cent growth in private capital investment for 2025. Investors are choosing Saskatchewan time and time again, which means more jobs, more economic opportunities and more long-term growth.

Saskatchewan also continues to grow global partnerships with Premier Scott Moe leading a mission to India. Recently, he joined Prime Ministers Carney and Modi for the signing of an agreement under which Cameco will supply $2.6 billion in uranium to India over nine years. Saskatchewan has the potential to supply the world with the fuel needed to power the economies of tomorrow, and it is encouraging to see India recognize the energy security we can provide. We look forward to this longstanding partnership that holds a lot of promise for a bright future together.

As part of the Premier’s ongoing mission, he and officials from Canada, India and the University of Saskatchewan will explore creating a Canada-India Pulse Protein Centre of Excellence in Kundli, India. Our province is essential for global food security, and this is an opportunity to bring Saskatchewan's expertise and ingenuity in pulse production. Our government will continue to accelerate innovation, expand processing capabilities, and support the growing demand for affordable, high-quality, sustainably grown foods.

Our province’s secure growth translates into real investments and opportunities for Saskatchewan people. Legislative Secretary Responsible for Trade and Export Development, Jamie Martens, joined Sandvik to break ground on a $51 million mining equipment manufacturing and servicing facility in Saskatoon. This investment will create new jobs, strengthen the economy, and enhance critical infrastructure needed to support the mining industry. Projects like this, along with our government's efforts to support long-term growth, ensure our economy remains strong.

We are continuing to protect health care by improving outcomes for patients. Additional Nurse Practitioner (NP) contracts are opening for another round due to the strong support received from patients and providers last year. NPs play a vital role in ensuring every Saskatchewan family has access to a primary care provider by 2028, and our government looks forward to working together to put patients first. Those interested in delivering publicly funded primary care services are invited to apply. For more information or to apply, click here.

In education, support is being extended for Ukrainian post-secondary students who have come to Saskatchewan seeking refuge from war. Since the launch of the Ukrainian Student Tuition Relief program in 2023, we have seen how tuition relief can transform students’ futures. That’s why our government will extend support for Ukrainian students until 2030, ensuring they have the stability, opportunity, and encouragement needed to complete their education and contribute to Saskatchewan’s future.

Building on our commitment to education and agriculture in Saskatchewan, our government proclaimed March as Agriculture Literacy Month. Agriculture remains one of our province’s greatest strengths, and this proclamation provides young people with opportunities to learn about the role it plays in their daily lives. Throughout the month, Agriculture in the Classroom Saskatchewan coordinates classroom visits from volunteer presenters as part of Canadian Agriculture Literacy Month. Your Saskatchewan Party government remains committed to building a province that is strong, safe and secure for families, communities and future generations. With the 2026-27 Provincial Budget set for March 18, 2026, we look forward to continuing our work toward a brighter future.
